MILLIONS of Virgin Media customers are about to say goodbye to sluggish streaming and glitchy gaming thanks to a free speed boost.
Virgin Media O2 is offering a select number of customers Wi-Fi speeds six times faster than the UK’s average, at no extra cost.
It only applies to new and existing customers who take M500 or Gig1 broadband packages[/caption]“As demand for fast and reliable connectivity continues to soar, we’re boosting upload speeds for millions of our broadband customers at no extra cost,” Gareth Turpin, Chief Commercial Officer at Virgin Media O2, said.
It follows another free speed boost for all M100 and M200 customers at the end of 2022.
In the most recent boost, upload speeds will rise to 52Mpbs and 104Mbps.
However, it’s not for everyone.
It only applies to new and existing customers who take M500 or Gig1 broadband packages.
If you’re unsure whether this applies to you, simply check your package via the Virgin Media Connect app.
“In the last year, we’ve seen record upstream demand on our fixed network as a result of more people regularly working from home, using video calling apps and new advances in gaming,” added Turpin.
“So now more than ever we’re laser focused on offering our customers a service that supports them now and in the future.”
If you’re eligible, you’ll be able to use the faster speeds from next week.
Here’s how you set it up:
Reboot your Hub by switching it off and waiting five to 10 seconds before switching it on again.
Alternatively you can restart your hub via the Virgin Media Connect app.
Once it’s rebooted, you should be able to access faster speeds.
Customers can heck their new upload speeds via the app.
